TOWIE star Chloe Brockett has spoken out about the pressures of ‘looking perfect’ while starring on a reality show.
The brunette beauty joined the ITVBe show this year and at just 18 is one of the youngest cast members.
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline to promote her winter edit with clothing brand Femme Luxe, Chloe admits she is much more confident while filming her second series after experiencing trolling over her looks during her debut.
Candid chat: TOWIE star Chloe Brockett has spoken out about the pressures of ‘looking perfect’ while starring on a reality show
‘I feel like there’s a lot of pressure to look a certain way anywhere you live, not just in Essex,’ Chloe says. ‘Everyone feels like they’ve got to look like the people they see on Instagram. I don’t even look like the person I look like on Instagram!’
‘There’s pressure to look perfect, but no one looks like that,’ she adds, revealing that she has had cosmetic procedures since signing up for TOWIE.
‘I had filler before I went on the show because I wanted bigger lips. When I went on the show I noticed that I didn’t like my nose, so I had the little tweaks (non surgical nose job), but nothing major.’
Chloe points out that she and others are simply following trends, explaining: ‘It used to be a massive trend because Kylie Jenner had her lips done, but the minute she’s dissolved them and everyone else copied her.’

‘I got mine dissolved in the summer before I went back to filming this year. They were botched because one side was bigger than the other – it was a correction’.
‘I feel like you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I got them dissolved because people were telling me I had big lips, so you can’t really win’.
The stunning star tells MailOnline that she has been a victim of trolling on Instagram, admitting that it was ‘far worse’ during her first series of TOWIE, when she was called ‘fat’ and told that ‘I look 40 years old.’
‘For one million nice comments you get it’s always the nasty one you pick up on the most, I wish I didn’t let it get to me.. I was so excited to go on TOWIE and then I got abused!’

Thankfully, Chloe says the comments have died down and she credits her own new drama-free attitude.
She explained: ‘I was an outspoken person and I felt the need to constantly defend myself. This series I go into filming and I don’t feel like I’m going to be attacked and because I’m a lot happier I think people are being nicer to me.’
Chloe also opened up about the girls on the show taking her under their wing following her fallout with former best friends Ella Rae Wise and Kelsey Stratford.
After initially being segregated from the rest of the cast when she first burst onto the scene, the starlet has become firm friends with the likes of Courtney Green, Chloe Meadows and Yazmin Oukhellou.
Favourites: Chloe has teamed up with online fashion retailer Femme Luxe, to pick her favourite edits from the range for the winter season
‘It’s so nice. Courtney and I are so similar. She [first] came on the show at a similar age to me now, I think she was 19. It’s really nice when I’m going through a situation to be able to ask for their take on things’, the bubbly brunette enthuses.
The girls have been dubbed the ‘busybody gang’ by Olivia Attwood, who sensationally branded them ‘b****es’ during an explosive argument in the Halloween episode.
However, Chloe – who is embracing her new more mature attitude – insists it’s all water under the bridge and the drama has come to an end for the girls.
‘With Olivia, I really like her and I really get along with her. I could see that the girls were getting upset by what was going on, but I didn’t want to get involved because my character is quite argumentative and I thought I need to stay out of it this time!’, she explains.

‘I’m just glad it’s all been put to rest, you can’t keep bringing up arguments. Even in the Halloween episode, I was actually embarrassed to be in that situation. Normally I just want to scream and shout, but I didn’t even want to.’
Chloe is also keen to put her feud with her rivals Kelsey and Ella to rest, as well as her fling with Harry Lee.
Despite insinuating she missed Harry earlier in the series, Chloe thinks the footballer is much better suited to his new girlfriend Frankie Sims.
She says: ‘Me and Harry was a long time ago now. Even at the time we weren’t right for each other. I think sometimes you just miss having someone there.
‘I’m really happy he’s moved on with Frankie because she’s a lovely girl.’
However, she couldn’t believed it when it emerged Ella had been messaging Harry behind Frankie’s back.

‘It was quite shocking to me because she was always Harry’s biggest hater’, Chloe reveals.
‘All of a sudden, a brush of the hand at Thorpe Park and a DM and she’s losing her mind! Hopefully no one gets involved in his relationship with Frankie anymore.’
She added of Ella’s attitude this series: ‘She’s very angry. I don’t know what the matter is with her and to be honest I really don’t care. You can say all the excuses you want, you’re going through a break-up.
‘Not being funny, but she wasn’t going through a break-up when she was being vile to me last series. There’s no excuse for her behaviour.’
Chloe also discussed the heartwarming moment when her best friend Joey Turner came out as gay on national television.
‘I got shown the scene in Marbella and I watched it and cried. He had told me the night before that he was gay. I was like, Joey – I know!’, she enthuses.
‘He shouldn’t be ashamed of who he is’: Chloe also discussed the heartwarming moment when her best friend Joey Turner came out as gay on national television
‘I think going on TOWIE was probably the push he needed because so many people immediately thought he was gay. Joey is such a character.
‘He shouldn’t be ashamed of who he is. He’s really calmed down, I think he’s happier and a lot more confident since coming out.’
Despite plenty of drama for Chloe since she joined the show, she gushes that she’d love to stay on the series ‘for ages.’
‘I feel like I’ve grown up so much in just one series. I look completely different too. I love being able to watch myself grow. Right now I’ve got no plans to leave, I’d like to become a really established cast member,’ she says.
Alongside her return to TOWIE, Chloe has teamed up with Femme Luxe to bring fans her exclusive edit of the key pieces every girl needs in their wardrobe this Winter, from cosy knitwear to statement PU pieces and body-con glitter minis.
